NATIONAL DISABILITY ARTS COLLECTION AND ARCHIVE

NDACA Co-op is a disabled-led organisation which manages the National Disability Arts Collection and Archive in the UK. It is a national organisation and utilises a "dispersed archive" model: the collection and archive, comprising thousands of individual pieces of artwork, film and ephemera is held physically and digitally by a group of key partners at various locations along with links to personally held collections.

Key partners are established organisations in the arts and education, including:

DaDa
Disability Arts Online (DAO)
Shape
Zinc

With the following organisations expected to join shortly:

Buckinghamshire New University
Graeae Theatre
Holton Lee

Partner organisations will hold portions of the collection, will organise events, exhibitions and educational programmes. Online access to NDACA will also be available.

NDACA Co-op has the following objectives:

To promote the advancement of the arts, culture and heritage of disabled people and disabled artists

To collect, manage, protect, conserve and disseminate artworks and related materials relating to disability arts and disabled artists

To promote and advance disability arts as "art made by disabled people that reflects the experience of disability"

To establish NDACA Co-op as an organisational centre of excellence with a national and international reputation.

The National Disability Arts Collection and Archive is entering a new phase of strategic development and will be increasing both its online presence and physical representation in local communities.
